Amy teaches English at Glenmoor and Winton, where she has taken on vital pastoral responsibilities: Anti-Bullying Lead, Anti-Misogyny Lead, Deputy Head of Year, and Head of House.
She has witnessed first-hand the daily impact misogyny and harassment have on young people’s confidence, attendance, and wellbeing. Before teaching, Amy built a decade-long career in sales, recruitment, and training - honing her ability to engage diverse groups, build trust, and drive real behavioural change.

With 15 years of teaching experience across secondary schools in Dorset, Joe has shaped thousands of young lives. Also an English teacher at Glenmoor and Winton Academies, he has held leadership roles including Head of Sixth Form, Head of Year, NPQ and CPD Teaching & Learning Coordinator, and Director of the Wessex School Training Partnership.
For the past decade, Joe has specialised in delivering impactful professional development to large groups of teachers and trainees, ensuring change spreads far beyond a single classroom.
Shut It Down was born out of our own frustration and urgency.
Both of us have seen how schools lack the tools, empathy, and language to confront misogyny effectively. We know the toll this takes - not just on young people, but on staff, parents, and the wider school community.
As practising teachers trusted by staff, students, and parents, every tool and framework is rooted in classroom reality. We understand the pressures staff face and the lived experience of students, so we can equip schools and organisations to replace cycles of harm with cultures of respect, empathy, and accountability.
