Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us on the form below if you cannot find an answer to your question and we'll get back to you as soon as we're out of the classroom.

Shut It Down is an education and training service that helps schools and organisations tackle misogyny and gender-based violence. We provide workshops, staff training, policy support, and resources designed to create safer, more respectful cultures.

While schools often have clear policies for racist or homophobic incidents, misogyny is too often treated as a “grey area.” Yet the impact is just as serious - on attendance, mental health, self-esteem, and safety. Addressing misogyny head-on ensures it is no longer normalised or ignored.

Schools and academies - key stage 3 & 4
Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs) - embedding consistent approaches across multiple sites
Businesses and organisations - training staff, strengthening workplace culture, and fulfilling DEI commitments

Student sessions are interactive, age-appropriate, and designed to open up honest conversations. We explore respect, empathy, healthy masculinity, and how to challenge harmful behaviours. Activities are practical and guided, never shaming or punitive.

Staff training builds confidence to recognise, respond to, and follow up on misogynistic behaviours. We provide ready-to-use scripts, restorative approaches, and clear pathways for reporting and intervention. Sessions can be delivered in person or online.

We offer three tiers - Bronze, Silver, and Gold - starting from £500. Each includes a blend of training, resources, and follow-up support, with increasing depth and reach. Packages can also be tailored for your context, whether you’re a single school or a large MAT.

Yes. Lasting change takes consistency. Our Silver and Gold packages include follow-up online sessions, resource access, and email support. We also offer consultancy and “train the trainer” options for long-term impact.

Yes. Many of our programmes are funded by businesses as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) or DEI commitments.

Sponsoring a school not only creates safer, more respectful environments for students - it also demonstrates your organisation’s values in action. Businesses that partner with us are recognised for taking a stand against misogyny and for supporting young people to thrive.

We can match you with a local school or trust, provide visibility on the impact of your support, and supply reporting that highlights your contribution to culture change.

Start with a conversation. We’ll talk through your context, recommend the right package, and agree a delivery plan that works for your timetable and budget.
